COOP Jednota Slovakia is the country’s largest grocery retail chain. Established in 2002, the cooperative now has more than 160,000 members and over 1 million loyalty card holders. The organization operates 10 logistics centers and 30 regional consumer cooperatives, 26 of which manage more than 2,000 retail outlets across Slovakia.

As the market leader in Slovakia, COOP Jednota has been exploring a variety of digital technologies to accelerate the digital transformation of its offline stores. One of the key initiatives was the adoption of Electronic Shelf Labels (ESL) to improve operational efficiency, reduce waste from paper-based labels, and allow store staff to focus on more meaningful customer-oriented tasks instead of manually replacing paper tags.

After evaluating multiple options, COOP Jednota selected Partron ESL’s InforTab solution as the optimal choice due to its strong advantages. With a centralized server architecture, the cooperative can now manage millions of tags seamlessly from one platform. Pricing errors have been minimized, overall store operations have become more efficient, and customers can now access detailed product information such as ingredients, nutritional values, and country of origin.

By implementing InforTab, COOP Jednota was able to save approximately 300 labor hours annually previously spent on paper label replacements. This not only reduced staff workload but also increased employee satisfaction, particularly during frequent promotional campaigns, while significantly lowering the costs associated with paper labeling. Moreover, customer service quality has improved. Instead of performing repetitive label replacements, store employees can now dedicate more time to assisting shoppers directly. Looking ahead, COOP Jednota plans to expand the InforTab solution across the majority of its 556 stores nationwide, further enhancing both efficiency and customer experience.
