Challenges

Due to the nature of fresh food distribution, purchase cycles are extremely short, and frequent price fluctuations caused by weather and crop conditions made it difficult to update and manage price labels daily. Repeated mismatches between actual sales prices and paper labels often led to customer dissatisfaction, highlighting the urgent need for digital price management. With fresh food—including agricultural, fishery, and livestock products—accounting for over 51% of Top Mart's total sales, the digital transformation of fresh food pricing became a critical priority.

Solution

Partron ESL proposed the installation of the 2.90-inch display model (R290) for fresh food sections as well as other grocery categories, and the R290F freezer tag, designed to operate reliably at -25°C, for refrigerated and frozen sections. Additionally, Partron's centralized server system was introduced, enabling unified price management and updates directly from headquarters.

Results

With the deployment of InforTab ESL, the time required for price label replacement has been reduced by more than half. Previously, store staff had to manually check fresh food prices daily, print paper labels, and replace them one by one at the shelf. This labor-intensive process involved multiple employees. Now, a single staff member can review updates and instantly apply changes digitally, eliminating unnecessary tasks and greatly reducing workload. As a result, employee satisfaction has significantly improved, while operational efficiency has increased. Beginning with the Top Mart Uidong branch, Seowon Distribution has successfully completed installation across all 77 stores nationwide by 2025. The company also plans to expand further with additional digital signage installations in the near future.
