Detailed Information
Maruichi, a Japanese supermarket chain partnering with Rakuten (Japan’s No.1 e-commerce platform), has introduced dynamic pricing solutions at two of its stores.
Frequent price fluctuations in agricultural and fishery products, along with spot sales linked to inventory changes, had created a heavy workload in constantly replacing paper price labels. To manage this efficiently, Assi Plaza introduced electronic shelf labels (ESL), expecting significant cost savings and improved operational efficiency.
By deploying ESL and strategically using medium-sized tags for visual emphasis, Assi Plaza enhanced in-store communication while optimizing staff productivity. Leveraging the network infrastructure installed alongside ESL, the retailer continues to expand functionalities, including in-store promotions and advertising, to maximize value.
Automated price updates streamlined the entire process—from POS system to shelf labels—reducing update time significantly and ensuring pricing accuracy. Additionally, the modern look of ESL displays improved store presentation, while flexible image layouts allowed Assi Plaza to redesign shelf displays with a more contemporary feel.
