PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) is one of the Big Four accounting firms in the world, employing 2,300 experts at SAMIL PwC with a large stake in consulting. It has global customers including the No. 1 company in the domestic industry in Korea, and operates 21 offices in 15 other countries. It was the first non-retailer in Korea to adopt ESL for smart office capabilities.
Challenge
SAMIL PwC considered a smart office solution to optimize their organizational matrix, which selected experts from each department for designated projects, then returned them to their original departments when the projects were completed. The frequent movement between departments caused imbalances of insufficiency or excess within the work environment. To optimize the workplace, SAMIL required a fast and responsive display device that could work with a smart kiosk as an office reservation and reserved seating system. They implemented this smart office solution to manage meetings, reorganize departments, set up flexible and matrix-type teams, and control conference rooms remotely.
Solution
RAINUS has further developed their ESL software, compatible with kiosks and signage, enabling users to interact with a customized booking system. Mobile apps that were previously incompatible with the ESL system did not guarantee the users reserved seating; however, the new smart office solution helped secure that space by quickly sending the data to a nameplate supported by ESL technology. The RAINUS digital nameplate is compatible with wireless communicators (GateWay), providing fast and stable data processing connected to ERP systems. By utilizing the NFC and QR code features of ESL, users can conveniently reserve seats and rooms from their mobile phones.
Result
SAMIL PwC continues to operate a smart office solution that allows employees to freely reserve seats and conference rooms. The success of the seating allocation system for unreserved seats and meeting rooms saw an improvement in employee productivity and space utilization. PWC also expanded this reservation system to personal lockers.
