COOP Jednota Slovakia is the largest food retailer in Slovakia. Established in 2002, it currently has more than 160,000 members and more than 1 million customer shopping card holders nationwide. COOP Jednota is operating 10 logistic centers and 30 regional consumer cooperatives, with 26 carrying out retail business at more than 2,000 points of sales throughout Slovakia.

Challenge

As a market leader, COOP Jednota Slovakia wanted to keep up with the latest technologies for in-store digitalization. As part of the initiative, the company decided to introduce ESLs to enhance its store efficiency. To achieve it, reducing paper consumption and freeing in-store employees from manual labeling were the biggest challenges.

Solution

At the same time, it has reduced the overhead costs associated with paper labels.

COOP Jednota Slovakia has been making the most out of the improved customer service as well. The employees now can dedicate more time to take care of their customers instead of working on laborious label replacement. The company has a plan to proceed with the deployment of most of its 556 locations gradually.
