RAINUS innovates retail with Nonghyup Hanaro Marts, the largest agri-food retailer chain in Korea.

RAINUS has provided Electronic Shelf Labels (ESLs) to Nonghyup Hanaro Marts Inc. (NHMI), the largest agri-food distributor in Korea, starting with the Godeok branch of Nonghyup Hanaro Marts in 2016. NHMI has deployed ESLs in its stores nationwide for the benefits that they bring like improved work efficiency and reduced operational costs.
RAINUS ESLs will be rolled out at 12 locations by the end of this year, while approximately 200,000 ESLs are planned to be installed at each location by end of this May.
NHMI and RAINUS have collaborated to innovate conventional retailing processes and distribution systems. As part of the efforts, NHMI opened Nonghyup Hanaro Mart artificial intelligence (AI) store in Sinchon. It is an unmanned store that can be operated without employees. Customers can simply check out without scanning barcodes, thanks to an AI technology that identifies all the items in a bag.
The store has InforTab Plus, a digital signage solution that supports dynamic content including images and videos with its full HD display, along with all the features of ESLs.
RAINUS has offered various solutions to NHMI to keep up with the latest retail trends and innovations. ESLs are an essential part of operating unmanned stores as they enable retailers to manage prices from a single location like HQ, with no need to visit stores.
“Nonghyup Hanaro Marts Inc. (NHMI), is the largest agri-food retail chain with distributor broad distribution networks. For this reason, NHMI is a pioneer in adopting innovative solutions. We expect to introduce diverse cutting-edge solutions that are required to operate unmanned stores, including an Inventory Management Solution based on AI-camera technology, a Price Optimization Solution, and a Digital Ad Platform to the market,” said Hyunhak Kim, the CEO of RAINUS.
